FIRE Co-Founder to Debate at the University of Delaware
Next week, FIRE co-founder Alan Charles Kors will debate William Galson, Professor Emeritus at the University of Maryland, on the topic, “Have Universities Become the Enemy of a Free Society?” The debate will take place on Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. at the University of Delaware’s Trabant Theater.
Dr. Galson was formerly one of President Clinton’s top advisors, and is currently a senior fellow at The Brookings Institution. Dr. Kors is the George H. Walker Endowed Term Chair at the University of Pennsylvania and, along with Harvey Silverglate, is the co-founder of FIRE and author of The Shadow University: The Betrayal of Liberty on America’s Campuses. The debate is sponsored by Students of Western Civilization, the Delaware Association of Scholars, Students in the Public Interest, and the Intercollegiate Studies Institute as part of the Cicero’s Podium Debate Series.
