Manchester Community College: Administrators Tell Student to Move Table Because of Political Content

Cases

Case Overview

On October 22, 2025, Manchester Community College student Sam Raiti was tabling for the school’s Turning Point USA chapter near the college’s main entrance when administrators told him to relocate somewhere else, citing TPUSA’s political nature. On March 18, 2026, FIRE wrote MCC, explaining that such content-based restrictions on speech violate the First Amendment, and that New Hampshire law deems outdoor areas of public colleges as public forums. We urged MCC to allow student expression in those areas, subject only to content-neutral restrictions.
