Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University: Administration Rejects Student Organization's Request to Host Controversial Speaker

On October 15, 2026, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University rejected its Young Americans for Freedom chapter’s request to host former congressman Allen West, claiming that such an event would not align with the university’s commitment to “fostering an educational environment that supports inclusive dialogue, respectful discourse, and student safety.” Embry-Riddle then put out a statement saying it “responded in haste” and hopes to work with YAF to host West in the near future. On October 29, FIRE explained that we are happy to see the university recognize its mistake and that we will be watching to make sure YAF is able to host West in the future.
