Casey Mattox
Casey Mattox is a veteran constitutional attorney whose career has centered on protecting freedom of speech, freedom of association, and other core civil liberties. He currently serves as vice president for legal strategy at Stand Together, where he develops strategies and partnerships to advance a legal system grounded in the rule of law and defending constitutionally limited government and individual liberty. Before joining Stand Together, Mattox’s litigation career focused on defending the First Amendment rights of students, faculty, families, health care workers, and religious organizations.
Mattox joined Stand Together as senior fellow for free speech at the Charles Koch Institute in 2018, and has also held roles at Americans for Prosperity, where he continues to act as an advisor. Prior to joining CKI, he served as senior counsel and director of the Center for Academic Freedom at Alliance Defending Freedom.
He is a frequent commentator and speaker for student and legal audiences on the Constitution and the necessity of defending both constitutional rights and the separation of powers that ensure them.
Mattox also serves on several nonprofit boards, including as co-chair of the Board of Visitors of the Federalist Society.
He holds a J.D. from Boston College Law School and a B.A. in government and history from the University of Virginia. He is a member of the bars of Virginia and the District of Columbia and the Supreme Court of the United States.
