Politics and Prose is hosting FIRE executive vice president Nico Perrino in conversation with author and First Amendment scholar Ronald Collins about Perrino’s new book, “Free Speech Generation: The Civil Libertarians Who Saved the First Amendment and Transformed America.” The book tells the story of lawyers, journalists, professors, students, and other activists who fought to make freedom of speech a meaningful constitutional right. From antiwar protestors and birth-control advocates to controversial speakers and unpopular political movements, these civil libertarians helped establish principles of free expression that continue to shape American life today.
