A Framework for Protest

At the College of the Holy Cross, we believe our educational mission is best achieved in an environment where free expression and open dialogue are not merely encouraged but celebrated. As a Jesuit Catholic liberal arts college committed to the ideals of human formation, ethical leadership, and social justice, we recognize that the vibrant exchange of conflicting ideas is an essential component of our collective growth.

For this growth and exchange of ideas to take place, it is important to affirm the rights of students to express ideas and state their agreement or disagreement with the opinions of others. This includes the right to disagree through peaceful protest. We affirm the right for students to use their voices, engage in orderly demonstrations, and seek justice within and beyond the Holy Cross community.
