Indiana University: Pro-Palestine Student Group Barred from All Activities

On August 15, 2025, Indiana University ordered the Palestine Solidarity Committee to “suspend all activities” pending an investigation because of behavior during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 academic year that presents an ongoing threat of harm and disruption to the university. IU also ordered PSC to disclose all of its active members and the date each of them began affiliation with the group. On September 24, FIRE wrote IU explaining that this violated PSC’s procedural due process and First Amendment rights. Due process requires government entities such as public universities to give notice and an opportunity to be heard before a deprivation of liberty. The First Amendment protects the right to associate and speak anonymously. FIRE called on IU to rescind the suspension of activities and to give PSC the full details of the allegations against them.
